NHS staff organise fundraising night in honour of much loved former colleague

In January 2023 paediatric staff at Ormskirk Hospital were devastated to lose fun-loving Children’s ward manager Amanda Collinson to cancer.

A year on staff from the Children’s Unit at Ormskirk are holding a fundraising evening with proceeds going towards buying something for the paediatric ward in memory of Amanda.

Special guest performers will be The Remedy, a band featuring staff members Mike Aisbitt and Claire Taylor.

Claire, a close colleague of Amanda’s said: “She was such a lovely person, really fun-loving, bright and always laughing and smiling.

“She is greatly missed by all of us and we wanted to do something to remember her by and let her family know that we are always thinking about her.’’

Amanda had worked for the Trust for six years, having worked at Manchester Children’s Hospital for many years before and she quickly established herself as a well-respected member of the team.

She had a passion for Disney, which extended to her long-term commitment to support sick children with the ‘Destination Florida’ programme.

The event will be held at The Chapel Galleries in Ormskirk on Saturday 3rd February from 7pm.

Tickets cost £15 per person and include food and entertainment. Everyone is welcome.
