Education and Training

Our Education, Training and Library Services provide support for the education, training and professional development of staff and students to help achieve their maximum potential in delivering high quality healthcare and current good practice.

Your learning and development begins the moment you join us and becomes an important part of life here.

We want you to enjoy your role at the Trust and have all the skills and know-how to do your job to the best of your ability.

Education and training is essential to both individuals and the organisation. Without development, we will not improve in what we do, and without improvement, we are not offering our patients the best care possible. The Trust Board is committed to its staff and people development, it expects its workforce to be competent, skilled and knowledgeable in their roles.

Education and training is used to ensure that the Trust meets its key development objectives and is able to maintain a high standard of care to patients.

You will be supported as a professional to develop through access to continuing professional development (CPD) and study leave to ensure that you meet your revalidation and governing body’s professional requirements.

We offer apprenticeships for current and new staff covering a wide range of topics from health and social care to team leading.

Our department values Trust staff so whether you’re already working here or considering joining us, we are sure to offer something to suit your needs and interest.

Our education and training programmes are delivered through:

  • Two education centres located at each hospital
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
  • Nursing and midwifery education
  • Learning and development for all staff
