Endocrinology
The department provides a comprehensive specialist paediatric endocrinology service for children and young persons with conditions caused by hormonal problems, variations of physical growth and sexual development in childhood and other disorders of the endocrine glands.
The endocrine outpatient clinics are held in Ormskirk hospital up to twice weekly under Professor May Ng, OBE an accredited specialist consultant paediatric endocrinologist.
A full range of dynamic endocrine function tests and other complex investigations on an elective day-case basis can be arranged and undertaken by a paediatric endocrine nurse in the Paediatric ward/assessment unit.
Professor May Ng works closely with colleagues at Alder Hey children’s hospital biochemistry and endocrinology departments and adult endocrinologists colleagues for transition. A wide range of endocrine disorders can be treated:
