Formerly Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

Clinical research allows us to improve treatments and medications that we provide to our patients.  We are involved in various areas of research in this Trust. Without research, medicine would not be as advanced as it is now.

We are dedicated to involving our patients in research that may be relevant to them.  There are posters and literature around the trust highlighting the current trials we are supporting.  If women are interested in a trial they have seen advertised, they are welcome to ask a member of staff and they can contact the research department.

Women may also be approached by one of our research team to ask if they would be interested in a particular trial.

With consent from mothers who fit the criteria, we have collected some routine maternity information.  This will help inform the global community about the disease in relation to miscarriage, fetal growth restriction, stillbirth, pre-term delivery and transmission from mother to baby.  We would like to say a huge thank you to all who have taken part.

Regular updates on our research studies are posted on the Ormskirk Maternity Facebook page.

If you would like anymore information, please contact our research midwife Linda Bishop.  She has more than 10 years’ experience as a midwife and has held a wide variety of roles.  She is passionate about research and has been principal investigator on multiple maternity studies.

Please do not hesitate to contact her on the details below if you would like any further information.
