- 5 Interesting Facts About Breastfeeding
- Signs your baby is hungry
Your baby will show you signs or cues that they want to feed .Try to look for the early hunger/feeding cues. If your baby is crying when you are trying to feed them, first calm your baby and they will be more ready to feed and will latch well.
Remember crying is the way your baby communicates their basic needs and it is normal for babies to cry sometimes. Always respond to your baby when they cry.
- How often should I breastfeed my baby?
In the first year, babies should breastfeed at least 8 times in a 24 hour period. Most babies will breastfeed more often.
- Is my baby getting enough milk?
If your baby seems full and relaxed after feeding and is growing well, you can be confident that they are getting enough milk.
- Breast feeding should not be painful
Breastfeeding should not be painful. If breastfeeding hurts, a trained counsellor can help.
