NEW mums are to benefit from a new breastfeeding room that has opened at Ormskirk Hospital.
Situated within the main entrance of the restaurant, the room offers a comfortable, calm, safe, and private space for mothers to effectively express milk and is available for patients, visitors and staff.
Maryjo Waldron, Consultant Midwife at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust, welcomed the new facility saying: "This room is something we have been looking to build for some time and I am delighted that it is now in place.
“As a maternity hospital it is important that we have such a space for patients and their visitors and it is important for our staff too.
“Returning to work after adding a baby to your family can be a highly emotive and difficult time and we wanted to provide as much support as possible to ensure staff felt able to continue their feeding journey in whichever way suits them best.
“I hope that this room provides a peaceful environment which can support mothers and parents at work for years to come.”
John McLuckie, Director of Finance at the Trust, said: “I am delighted that we been able to support patients, visitors and colleagues with this project to ensure that there is a dedicated and private space to be used."
