Orthopaedic ward opens doors to new staff

Staff on ward 14A at Southport hospital are opening their doors on Wednesday 26 February to potential new team members.  The ward specialises in orthopaedic trauma cases such as broken legs and hips.  The team is looking for registered nurses, therapists and healthcare assistants.

Potential new team members are welcome from 2pm to 6pm and will be able to meet the multi-disciplinary team which includes surgeons, therapists and nurses.  This team is essential to get patients up and moving post surgery, which speeds up recovery and allows people to return home as quickly as possible.

A current staff nurse on the ward said: “Our team on 14A is like a big family, everyone is so supportive and helpful, it’s a fantastic place to work.”

Another added: “This is a rewarding but challenging ward, very busy at all times.  Nursing and therapy teams work closely together, going above and beyond for our patients.”

Ward manager Kath Todd said: “Our team here on 14A is fantastic, working together to help patients recover from broken bones and fractures – getting them back on their feet as quickly as possible.

“We are keen to open our doors and encourage anyone curious to pop along and meet the whole team. I look forward to meeting lots of potential new team members on the day.”
