About the service
Clinical Audit is a vital part of the cycle of continuous quality improvement, involving the review of care and services provided against evidence-based standards. This ensures better patient outcomes, meeting patient needs, and contributing to cost savings.
To support this process, the Trust’s Clinical Audit Team provides extensive advice and guidance to both clinical and non-clinical staff involved in audit projects—whether at National, Regional, or Local levels—or in the undertaking of user surveys for staff or patients.
The Trust also utilises AMaT (Audit Management and Tracking) to streamline and monitor audit projects effectively. AMaT provides a centralised platform for staff to manage audits and track their progress, ensuring alignment with evidence-based standards and the Trust’s quality improvement goals.
The Department has staff who collates evidence of the Trusts NICE compliance, provided by the Clinical leads. The collated evidence is reviewed by the Chief Executive on a quarterly basis via the Clinical Effectiveness Council.

The Clinical Audit Team has staff based at our Whiston, Southport and Ormskirk sites who provide clinical audit and quality improvement support to all staff.
