About the service

The audiology team works closely with ear, nose and throat (ENT) consultants and physiotherapists to provide assessment and treatment for people with hearing loss and balance disorders.

We provide diagnostic and rehabilitation services using state-of-the-art equipment, including balance tests and a full hearing aid service in hospital in clinics at Formby and Skelmersdale.

We also treat gradual hearing loss and tinnitus over the age of 40 as a direct referral from your GP, and run a drop-in session for repair and maintenance of hearing instruments.

Opening times

The audiology departments at both Southport and Ormskirk hospitals are only offering a postal service for hearing aid batteries and tubing.

The drop-in repair service has stopped and is replaced with a booked repair system. Please phone the department to arrange your booked repair time slot.

Phone lines are open at both Southport and Ormskirk departments at the following times:

Monday to Friday from 09.30am to 12noon and 1.00pmto 3.00pm

In order to offer you a safe and efficient service please contact the department before travelling to ensure we can provide you with the most appropriate service.

Getting a referral

Adult hearing test referrals accepted from GP services from people age 40 years and over.

Existing patients can contact Audiology directly.
