About the service
Please read the letter that accompanies your appointment. It contains important information that will allow you visit to the Radiology department to run smoothly.
Opening Times
General Radiology (Southport and Ormskirk hospitals, including GP referrals/dental)
- Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 5.00pm
Additional GP sessions by appointment only (Southport only)
- Wednesday and Thursday from 5.00pm to 8.00pm
- Saturday from 09.00am to 4.00pm
MRI Scanning (Southport only)
- Seven-day service
CT Scanning (both hospitals)
- Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 5.00pm
Fluoroscopy (screening) e.g. barium studies (Southport only)
- Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 5.00pm (set sessions only)
Specialised and interventional procedures (Southport only)
- Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 5.00pm (set sessions only)
Bone Mineral Densitometry (Dexa Scan)
- Monday to Friday from 09.00am to 5.00pm
- Current Waiting Times
Current approximate waiting times for Radiology modalities below:
CT (Computed Tomograph): 3 to 4 weeks
CT (Computed Tomography) – Colon scans: 2 to 3 weeks
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging): 5 to 6 weeks
Ultrasound: 5 to 6 weeks
DEXA Scans: 4 weeks
Fluoroscopy: 4 weeks
X-Rays: 2 to 3 weeks
