Formerly Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

Renal (nephrology) care

The paediatric renal (nephrology) service includes excellent outpatient services for patients with kidney problems. The service caters for children of all ages: from birth and until 16 years of age.

In addition to the general renal clinics, there are dedicated joint renal specialist clinics for children and young people with complex kidney disease.  This is run under shared care arrangements with Alder Hey children’s hospital and these joint clinics are held in Ormskirk hospital, allowing specialist care including inpatient admission and outpatient follow up closer to home.

These services are provided for the local children in a dedicated children’s department.

Our paediatric renal/nephrology services are highly appreciated by our patients and their parents.

We have both secondary and tertiary renal services which will cater for most children with kidney and urinary problems in the area.
