Ann began her NHS career more than 30 years ago in the former regional health authority as a junior clerk and later qualified as an accountant.
She was a director of finance with NHS trusts before being appointed chief executive of Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Two years later in 2003 she became chief executive of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a role she continues to hold. Ann was an interim chief executive of the Trust between autumn 2015 and spring 2016.
Neil Masom OBE

An engineer by profession, Neil Masom OBE began his career with the former Hawker Siddeley Aviation aircraft company in 1977 before going on to gain more than 30 years’ experience with BAE Systems, primarily in Manchester and Lancashire, holding three managing director posts at the company between 2000 and 2009.
He has held and continues to hold a number of non-executive posts, including as chairman of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Services Organisation (2000-2006) and as a non-executive director at East Cheshire NHS Trust in Macclesfield (2009-2013).
He is currently senior independent director at WYG plc, a successful international engineering consultancy and was for four years audit committee chair at HS2 Limited, the company responsible for designing and building the UK’s new high-speed rail network.

Anne-Marie became part of the NHS family more than 33 years ago. She joins us from Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust where she has been Director of HR and Deputy Chief Executive since 2003.

Lesley Neary was previously Deputy Chief Operating Officer at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where she was responsible for ensuring supportive and responsive day-to-day operational management.
Her NHS leadership experience spans operations, performance improvement and management, strategic planning and strategic transformation. Having joined the NHS in 1999, Lesley has worked across a number of NHS sectors including acute, regulatory, community and commissioning.
Dr Kate Clark

Appointed June 2020
Dr Kate Clark trained at Liverpool Medical School, later becoming a consultant in emergency medicine at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. She was clinical director for emergency care, adult safeguarding lead and clinical lead for major trauma, introducing the Royal College of Surgeons resuscitative thoracotomy course to Liverpool.
From there, she joined Warrington and Halton hospitals and then took up the post of medical director for secondary care for the three hospitals in North Wales.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Kate led clinical pathways development to support new ways of working and was acting Deputy Executive Medical Director for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board which spans primary and community care, mental health, dentistry as well as secondary care. She has also been a governing body member for NHS Trafford CCG since 2017.
Lynne Barnes

Lynne started her journey in healthcare as a carer in a nursing home. She then joined the NHS as a health care assistant and soon after started her nurse training, qualifying as a children’s nurse in 1998 and working at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
She then did leadership roles, both in a clinical and operational capacity, in Greater Manchester and Lancashire. She has managed a range of teams over the years, including acute, community and public health services.
Lynne joined the Trust from Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in 2021 as Deputy Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Therapies.
Nina Russell

Nina Russell is a qualified accountant whose NHS leadership experience spans finance, operations, performance improvement and management, strategic planning and strategic transformation.
She joined the NHS in 2004 and has worked across a number of NHS sectors including acute, community, mental health and regulatory.
She is on secondment from NHS England/Improvement where she is senior improvement lead for Cheshire and Merseyside.
John Mcluckie

John McLuckie joined the NHS as a graduate trainee in 1988 after graduating from Hull University. In 1991, he became a full member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants and has worked in the NHS provider sector within acute, community, mental health and learning disability services.
He started work at North West Boroughs Healthcare in 2004, becoming Chief Finance Officer in July 2018, with Board-level responsibility for finance, contracting, procurement and performance. He has also previously managed the whole informatics function.
He is a passionate believer in equality and diversity and is a member of the North Finance Equality and Diversity Group and has been the executive sponsor for both the BAME and Ability First network.
Jane Royds

Jane was appointed Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development in November 2018 after occupying the Associate Director position since May 2017. Prior to joining the Trust, she was Executive Director of Non Clinical Services at Queenscourt Hospice.
Before joining Queenscourt Jane had worked in the NHS since 1986 in various roles across Primary Care, Mental Health and Community Trusts. Jane’s passion is giving staff a voice, meaningful engagement and offering development opportunities so staff can deliver excellent care to our patients every day.
Jane has extensive knowledge and experience in the management of HR services, employee engagement, staff health & wellbeing and equality, diversity & inclusion. She wants the Trust to be a great place to work and receive care, always ensuring that patients are at the heart of what we do.

Gill Brown

In addition to her NHS interests, Gill is also a non-executive director with Jigsaw Homes, a large housing association based in the North West and Midlands. Gill has a non-executive role with Jigsaw Homes Group Board and with a subsidiary board which she chairs, Jigsaw Support. This provides a range of support services, including homelessness and housing advice services, domestic abuse support and employment support projects.
Previous roles include governing body member for NHS Southport and Formby Clinical Commissioning Group and chief executive for Healthwatch Lancashire.
She is also a non-executive director at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Gill has has more than 40 years’ experience of working in the NHS in a variety of clinical, research and board roles. She is also a mentor for the Board Diversity Network.
Ian Clayton

Ian has been a director of finance for more than 30 years, initially in industry and commerce before moving to the not-for-profit sector in 2002. Since then, he has worked in a variety of roles in health, housing, education and sport.
He is a board member of Mosscare St Vincent’s Housing Association, and sits in a voluntary capacity on the board of Greater Manchester Cancer and other sub-committees.
Ian is also non-executive director of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
David Bricknell

A solicitor by profession, David Bricknell’s career has embraced the public sector in a variety of roles, including as a non-executive director at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
He held a number of legal and company secretarial posts including Group Legal Advisor and Company Secretary at Pilkington plc. He has a directorship at The World of Glass, St Helens, and has a PhD in strategic decision-making.
Pauline Gibson

Pauline Gibson is a director of Staffordshire-based Excel Coaching and Consulting. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
She is an experienced board director specialising in executive coaching, strategic leadership development, transformational teams and culture change.
Pauline has spearheaded significant culture change programmes and is skilled in developing a high performing leadership cadre and driving catalytic team performance.
Ian Craig

Although Ian is a proud Aberdonian, he has lived in Merseyside for more than 20 years and was most recently director at Nationwide Building Society. He previously held executive roles at both Barclays and Bank of America, leading large operational and technology functions, both in the UK and internationally.
He is a trustee for both Willowbrook Hospice in Prescot, Merseyside, and The Brain Charity where he chairs their digital and technology sub-committees.
